Although Blue Bird was established in 1972, the actual embryo of Blue Bird was the Golden Bird, earlier known as Chandra Taksi, which were private cars operated for car rental, primarily to transport journalists and other visitors to and from the airport and the hotels. Customer recommendations from this service helped to apply for a license to operate a taxi company. Until today among Blue Bird Group employees, Golden Bird is informally known as CT. In land transportation from Blue Bird taxis, and Golden Bird limousine and rental cars, emerged Big Bird buses, and more recently the executive taxi Silver Bird. The last seven years has enjoyed rapid expansion to embrace four business divisions to become Blue Bird Group of companies and to expand the services throughout Indonesia.

Back in 1972, well before Jakarta was a cosmopolitan city of twelve million people, Blue Bird was there. Blue Bird started out with just 25 taxis, yet we have grown to include more than 12,000 vehicles, and serving more than two million passengers a month. Orders for taxis by phone from regular customers reach around 7000 daily. Our services also now cover a range of transportation needs from car rentals to cargo delivery.

Our first goal was to provide quality transportation services, non-existent in Jakarta at that time. We were the first taxi company that implemented the strict use of argometers, we are a pioneer in the use of radio communications, air-conditioned vehicles, and have the best equipped service stations in Jakarta. Blue Bird's history of growth is based on developing the best technology and personnel resources to keep our competitive edge. From our headquarters in Jakarta we have built a network throughout the nation's capital that incorporates customer service as the guiding principle to our corporate expansion.
