History Prior to Establishment of the Company

Around 1965, the late Mrs. Mutiara Fatimah Djokosoetono, the late dr. Chandra Suharto (the first born of the late Mrs. Mutiara Fatimah Djokosoetono) and dr. Purnomo Prawiro (the youngest son of the late Mrs. Mutiara Fatimah Djokosoetono), operated an unmetered taxi business under the name of Chandra Taxi, i.e., the name of the late Dr. Chandra Suharto.
Thereafter, in the early 1970s, the late Mrs. Mutiara Fatimah Djokosoetono jointly with a number of her business partner, established PT Blue Bird Taxi (BBT) which was operated by, among others, dr. Purnomo Prawiro as one of its Directors. From the early 1980s until the early 2000s, a number of the shareholders of BBT sold their shares in BBT, which were acquired by the families of dr. Purnomo Prawiro and the late dr. Chandra Suharto.

I began this business with 25 taxis. I still remember how glad and nervous I was when the 25 taxis arrived from Surabaya, and entered into my first depot. Since then, the business grew rapidly and I realize that this was achieved from the great support from my beloved children, who have taken their time while also pursuing their aspiration to become doctors. I also want to express my appreciation to our special employees, who have been with us for all these years. Working together as a “big family,” we have reached our first goals that we have been recognized and awarded by the Government and private institutions as a provider of first-class transportation service. I believe we will never lose this position as long as we maintain the cultures of hard work, honest, discipline, polite and continuing to be the best.

Our business was established upon a dream to make things better. Just as the name Blue Bird was taken from a European fairy tale about a girl and a blue bird who strived tirelessly to attain happiness, all of our family members have done they could, achieving the aspiration. As the member of the family increased, as well as education costs, it was just like a miracle that the Company, previously only with two taxies, managed to survive and grew. It was the integrity, hard work, discipline and family values that have been supporting such achievement. We encourage every individual, whatever his or her position, to always provide the best service to customers. To keep up with the changing times, we continue to improve competency in all lines of business. We also realize that our success has been largely dependent upon God’s blessings, and accordingly have initiated Blue Bird Peduli program, to help those who are less fortunate.
