Guidelines for Orders and Payment
ORDERS
- Big Bird reservations/bookings can be made via telephone, fax or directly
at the Big Bird reservation counters. For confirmation of the booking
a minimum deposit of 25 percent of the total payment is required. Although
a tentative booking may be made via telephone, the booking cannot be confirmed
without a deposit.
- Full payment must be made three days (72 hours) prior to usage.
- Rates and conditions for Idul Fitri, Christmas and New Year holidays are
different from the published rates.
- If the final payment has not been made according to the above schedule,
the bus which has been ordered may be transferred to another party.
The deposit will then be refunded to the user after a cancellation fee is
deducted. For information on cancellation fees please refer to the section
on cancellation.
PAYMENT
- Payment may be made with cash, bank transfer, cash check, endorsed check
(giro) and credit card. For payment by giro, the payment must be received
in the Big Bird account three days before bus usage.
- Payment can be made at the reservation counters. For your convenience our
reservation staff can collect your payment at your office or residence provided
that the amount is a minimum of Rp 1 million.
- For regular customers special conditions apply.
- If there is a change in the destination of the order:
Before departure: that can be arranged if the user has paid the difference
in the rate between the planned destination and the new destination.
During the journey: the user should inform the reservation staff about the
change of destination and pay the difference between the two rates. This
also depends on whether the vehicle is still available, as in some cases the
same bus may be booked immediately after the current usage so an extension of
the journey is not possible.
Changes in the Order
- If on the day of order the time of usage is moved forward or delayed, there
will be no extra charge provided that the vehicle is still available.
- If the day of usage is postponed to a later date this is considered a cancellation
and cancellation regulations apply.
- A change in the order from a large bus to a smaller bus, or a change in
the rate from a higher rate to a lower rate (due for example to a change of
destination or length of time of usage) is considered a cancellation of the
original order. Therefore a percentage of the difference between the
two rates must be paid according to the regulations for cancellation.
Cancellation
- A cancellation made five days before usage will be charged a cancellation
fee of 5 percent of the total rate.
- A cancellation made between two and four days before usage will be charged
a cancellation fee of 10 percent of the total rate.
- A cancellation made 24 hours before usage, where the vehicle has not yet
been sent will be charged a cancellation fee of 25 percent of the total rate.
- A cancellation made after the vehicle has already been sent to the customer
will be charged a cancellation fee of 50 percent of the total rate based on
the estimated usage.
Cancellation for Out of Town Usage
The maximum cancellation fee is the equivalent of one day out of town for
each vehicle, where the vehicle has not yet been sent.
For cancellation of an order for an out of town pick up, if the vehicle has
already been sent, there will be a cancellation fee of the full amount of
an out of town pick up. That is, the full amount of the minimum
days usage to that destination.
WITHIN JAKARTA AND OUTSIDE JAKARTA USAGE
Usage Within Jakarta
- The minimum rental period for a large or medium bus within the city is six
hours. For the mini bus the minimal rental period is four hours.
- The maximum period of time for daily rental is 12 hours. If the usage
is more than 12 hours then the amount is calculated using the hourly rate.
- For the purposes of calculation of the hourly rate:
11 until 40 minutes
is calculated as half an hour
41 minutes and above
is calculated as one hour
Usage Outside Jakarta
- For the rental for one way only, that is from a point of pick up in Jakarta
to an out of town destination, the rate will be the same as a two way journey.
The time of usage may be a maximum of half of the time used for a two way
journey only. That is, for example if a two way journey is estimated
at four days then for a one way rental the bus may be used for only two days.
- The user may change the destination whether to a further or a different
destination from that which was planned or increase the hours of usage. The
rate will be adjusted according to the changes made.
- If there is any change in usage as mentioned above, to be sure about the
rate, it is better to contact the Big Bird reservation counter either before
or after usage.
- For Big Bird users who are traveling either to Dieng Plateau in Central
Java or Mount Bromo in East Java, the large bus is not permitted to drive
up the mountain according to local regulations.
CONDUCTOR AND ADDITIONAL DRIVER
To ensure the safety and comfort of the passengers and drivers for a long distance
destination two drivers are provided. That is, for a destination which is very
far and of more than three days usage, two drivers will be provided.
The minimum distance where two drivers would be required is for example the
destination of Pangandaran and Lampung for three days. Of course destinations
of a further distance, for example Bali, would require two drivers.

For outside the city
A conductor is provided for the medium or large bus except in the case where
there are already two drivers for the medium bus.
For inside the city
A conductor is provided only for the large bus. For the addition of one driver
at the request of the user, there will be an additional payment of 10 percent
of the total rate.
Special driver
The user may request a specific driver, where possible we will try to give
the driver requested.
ARRIVAL OF THE VEHICLE AT THE POINT OF PICK UP
The bus should arrive at the pick up address 30 minutes before usage.
For the medium and the large bus, the ordered bus should be at the pick up address
one hour before the scheduled order.
The driver must report his arrival to the user at the pick up address.
If the bus has not arrived at the specified time as described above, the user
may call the reservation counter where they ordered the bus.
If the user ordered a non-air-conditioned bus, but the bus which is sent is
air-conditioned, the air-conditioning may be used at no extra charge.
